Intro to Downhill Day

$140.00

Our Intro to Downhill Day is designed specifically for youth riders wanting to step into downhill racing with more confidence, knowledge and understanding of the sport. This day is aimed towards riders interested in entering events such as NZDH, Secondary Schools Nationals and local DH races, while also helping them better understand what a race environment looks like and what riders need to prepare for.

A big focus of the day is helping riders and parents remove the unknowns around racing. Turning up to your first DH event can feel pretty overwhelming — timing systems, race schedules, queues, faster riders, whistles blowing, mechanics, pits and everything happening around you. We want riders to leave the day understanding more about how the events work and feeling more prepared to enjoy the experience. The riding side of the day will still be fun and progressive, but this is much more than just “lapping the tracks”. Although, riders will spend time learning on-bike skills how to manage themselves through tricky parts of a course and build good habits early in their riding journey. This is a supportive learning environment designed to help riders progress safely while getting a genuine insight into downhill racing and what it takes to be on the start line.
